CPYC Junior sailing News - Posted on Thursday, May 08, 2008
We have reached maximum capacity for the morning beginner and intermediate Optimist classes in the CPYC Junior Sailing Program. Patti Palmer, the Program Registrar, is keeping a waiting list for spots which may open up in the morning classes.   The good news is we still have some openings in the afternoon classes for Racing Optis, Pixels, C420s and Lasers.    We will be wrapping up afternoon enrollment very soon, however, so please send in your registrations if you still have children interested in these racing classes.  We are looking at one of the biggest enrollments in club history and anticipate an exciting summer with our 7 wonderful instructors.

The CPYC Weather Station is reporting accurate data on the computer in the Breezeway. Unfortunately, this data is not uploading properly from the CPYC Web page link due to an unresolved FTP uploading problem. The problem has been referred to the webmaster and technicians for resolution.

In the meantime, as a service to members, an alternate interface has been set up

Open "Town Hall" Meeting brief - Posted on Friday, February 29, 2008
Commodore Little and the entire Board of Governors hosted the first of three town hall meetings planned for 2008 to enhance communication with members. The Governors each reported on their areas, including 2008 plans and progress made in their areas of club affairs. About 35 members, representing every membership category were in attendance. Members present raised questions and received detailed responses on a wide range of topics. The meeting was a positive and interactive exchange of ideas, as anticipated.

In an area of significant interest to members, progress on the Bulkhead Repair project was noted, along with in-depth discussion of the Bulkhead Committee's recommendation, as accepted by the Board, to install an upgraded hoist foundation as part of the repair project. The upgraded hoist foundation will provide the ability to upgrade capacity in the future without the risk of damaging the newly repaired Bulkhead.

It was also noted that the proposal for a higher capacity hoist has been referred to the Strategic Planning Committee for further discussion and consideration. For 2008 the Club will operate with two one ton hoists as have traditionally been used at CPYC.

Concrete border caps, drainage scuppers, curbing and asphalt, etc will be installed prior to reinstalling the Club's two one ton hoists in time for the sailing season.   Spring is coming and the Club will be ready.

David Marseli Elected to Board of Governors - Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008
Based on a recommendation from the Nominating Committee, David Marseli was elected by the Board of Governors at the February 11, 2008 Board Meeting to fill the vacant Governor position that resulted from David Howe’s resignation from the Board of Governors. David Howe’s resignation resulted from increased personal and professional commitments. We will miss David’s counsel and hard work on Board activities and on behalf of the Board of Governors we would like to thank him for his commitment to CPYC. --Thomas Little, Commodore
