Welcome to Cedar Point YC's Star Fleet Minimize
Come out and sail with us!Star Fleet #2, based at Cedar Point, is proud of its distinction as the oldest active Star fleet in the world.  Active since 1932, the year Stars were first raced in the Olympics, the Central Long Island Sound Star fleet has an outstanding tradition of fine racing and great sportsmanship.

Designed way back in 1911 by Francis Sweisguth, the Star has proven itself a classic like no other one design boat in history.   Its Olympic tradition is longer than that of any other boat, and continues strong today.  To win the Star World Championship is second  in prestige only to the Olympic Games.   The names of top Star sailors reads like a Who's Who of sailboat racing.

The Star is a technical, athletic, two person keelboat with a large sail plan and light weight.  Fast in light air and thrilling on a plane, the Star is a true test of all around sailing skill.  It is infinitely adjustable and a tweaker's delight, and has spawned many equipment innovations over the years which are now considered standard on other boats.

The racing schedule for Stars at CPYC includes most Saturdays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and Commodore's Cup Regattas over the three holiday weekends.  CPYC also annually hosts the Bedford Pitcher Regatta each September, a long established open Star event.  The Star fleet at CPYC is part of the First District, which features an attractive schedule of regattas enabling sailors from different fleets to sail against each other in a variety of venues.
