J70 Winter series update
Once again 3 Cedar Point boats and their respective crews sailed in the second of three Davis Island YC winter events.

Once again 3 Cedar Point boats and their respective crews sailed in the second of three Davis Island YC winter events. January 9th-10th.

The weather was considerably different this time around. Saturday offered light winds and a stalled front. The second race had to be shortened (thank goodness) at the windward mark due the rapidly diminishing breeze (it was a total drifter). Fortunately the RC sent the fleet in and everyone got secured before the wind and the rain developed.

By Sunday the front had pushed through and the promise of an excellent sailing day was evident. We had great breeze and the RC got off four windward-leeward races (twice around). The haul out was slow, but we all managed to make our flights.

All of our boats managed to have a race in the top 10 during the regatta. Trevor ended up 30th, Rick Swann 17th and Josh Goldman 15th for the event.
Many of the boats packed up for Key West, but the Cedar Pointers decided to pass on that one.

The social highlight was a complete crew dinner at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City. The Cuban restaurant boasts 1500 seats a flamingo dancing show, bar with band and many dining rooms (see picture).

The next and final regatta is February 6-7.
