Saugatuck Island Bridge Replacement Bulletin
UPDATED: A week later than expected, piling work for the bridge will be conducted Fri, 2/17, and Mon, 2/20. During these days, only Canal Road will be available for island access. Bridge replacement will be 3/1 - 7/4; power to the island will be off for 1 hour on 3/13 and 2 - 3 hours on 3/22.

As part of the upcoming bridge replacement, the following work is scheduled:

  • A week later than expected, piling work will be conducted Fri, 2/17, and Mon, 2/20 - current bridge will be shut down.1 
  • From Mon, 3/13 thru Wed, 3/22 the Island’s electricity will be supplied via temporary generators; to make the switch-over, the Island will be without power for about 1 hour on 3/13 and to make the switch back the Island will be without power for 2 - 3 hours on 3/22.
  • Starting Wed, 3/1 thru Tues, 7/4 there will be no bridge access while the old bridge is removed and the new bridge is installed.1

1 During this period, only the land bridge at the end of Canal Road will be available for entry/egress to/from Saugatuck Island.  A tide schedule will
  be made available highlighting those high tide periods where flooding of Canal Road may impede access to/from Saugatuck Island.
