CPYC Juniors Excel at US Youth Champs June 30 - Four CPYC teens competed and excelled at the US Sailing Youth Championships at Grosse Point, Michigan this week, under the direction of USSA Youth Championship Chairman Nelson Stephenson. This championship was hosted by CPYC last year.
In Laser Radials, Winter Members Elizabeth Barry and Scott Furnary placed 5th and 7th, respectively, in the 27-boat fleet. In Lasers, Winter Member Alex Weiksnar placed 10th, while Harry Weyher IV scored 28th out of 37. - Eric Robbins
Kel Weber Does It Again! Before all of us CPYC Bermuda Race Sailors beat our chest to much I noticed that Kel Weber won his class AGAIN in the Non spinnaker division at Block Island Race Week. See www.blockislandraceweek.org Congratulations and great going Kel.
Cedar Pointers Gary Grant and Steve Fisk finish second, or maybe sixth, you decide, in Bermuda Race June 22 - Based on the results posted on the race website, Gary and Steve, onboard Gary's J/120 Alibi, have finished finished second in the Double Handed Division (Div 16) of the Bermuda Race under the IRC handicapping system. Their race was also scored under the ORR system, which yielded a sixth place finish.
The other fleets in the race are also being scored under two different handicap systems, US IRC and ORR, with ratings that seem to change by the minute, so your guess is as good as mine. The results below are for ORR, at the top of the results sheet is a link to the IRC results.
In the very competitive St. David's Lighthouse Trophy Div 7, Salty Goose, a Derektor 54 with Steve Shaw onboard has finished 7th and Xcelsior, an IMX 45 with CPYC member Eric Cameil and one of Wired's regular crewmembers Jay Sacco onboard, has corrected to 13th in their 25 boat division.
Fat City Too, a Swan 391 sailed by Carl Sherter with John McArthur aboard stands eigth. Mezzaluna, a Swan 53 with Jason Shell onboard is 4th of 22 boats. Monhegan, a J/44 sailed by Martinus Van Breems with Halsey Bullen aboard, is 15th of 21 boats.
June 16 - Click here to view a small album of shots I took from onboard the RC Boat for the start, which happened to be a 170' Coast Guard Cutter with a beautiful bird's eye view. I was there giving fellow CPYCer Jeff Blauvelt a hand shooting video to be incorporated into Gary Jobson's upcoming documentary on the 100th running of the race.

One-Design Regatta – A Little Rain Never Hurt Anyone …
June 6 - But it sure made competitors cold and wet on Saturday! Despite the weather, there were a lot of smiles when people returned to the dock, and conditions on Sunday were generally better. The RC gave the fleets five races, which was a real achievement given the fog, rain and shifty winds. Racing was close – many boats were separated by only 1 or 2 points in the final results.
The largest fleet participating was the J/30s, including 8 CPYC boats. This event was also the LIS District Championship for the J30s. And we had J105, J109 and Level 72 fleets.
Top CPYC finishers were: • J30: John McArthur (Smiles) in second place • J105: George Wilbanks / Jay Lurie (Revelation) in first, with 3 bullets • Level 72: Bill Walker (Afterglow) in second. Results

CPYC 12-Meter Team Selects Intrepid June 5 - Several CPYC 12 Meter team members attended the hull selection meeting at Fayerweather Yacht Club this past Friday night 6/2. CPYC selected hull US-22 Intrepid here is the link to the history http://www.americascupcharters.com/us22.htm
Known as "the peoples choice" the Intrepid defended the cup 2 times and competed well into the era of the aluminum hulls. US-30 Freedom is the only newer Hull on the course this year- CPYC truly has a wonderful hull!!!!
I have actually had the opportunity to skipper the Intrepid for 5 hours during a match race in 04' and the hull speed was remarkable! I am truly excited about this competition. Having said that, I continue to network and brainstorm on how to round out the CPYC team with talented sailors. Should any of you have a suggestion as to someone I should reach out for and contact that would be a strong asset to the CPYC team, please email their name and I will do so. - Brian Joyce
2005-2006 Laser Frostbiting Season a Major Success! May 31 - The 2005-2006 Laser Frostbite series concluded on May 14th with 43 hardy sailors having completed at least 50% of the Spring series races to earn Qualifier honors. A record breaking 40 sailors qualified for the combined season, compared to 29 for 2004-2005, an increase of a whopping 38%. Attendance was at record or near record numbers all season long helped by pleasant weather in the Fall and a significant influx of Junior sailors. The level of competition has never been stronger with Andrew Scrivan winning the combined series with an average score of 1.897 (61% participation). In 2nd place for the combined season was last year's champion Marc Jacobi followed by Alex Weiksnar (3rd), Charles Stanley (4th) and Peter Stratton (5th).
The Frostbite season was celebrated at the annual Frostbite Awards Dinner held at the club on Friday May 26th. Approximately 40 people attended and over 60 trophies and qualifying prizes were awarded.
Ironman Adam Szabo recieved a standing ovation as he received his 2nd consecutive Ironman trophy for having now started 208 consecutive races. Eric Robbins was also awarded a special Ironman award for having qualfied in 40 consecutive series over the past 20 years. Andrew Scrivan will be awarded the Robert Lawson Frostbite Trophy at the CPYC awards dinner in November. - Laser Fleet Captain Andy Hoffman
Gary Grant and Steve Fisk aboard Alibi win double handed division of Round Block Island Race
May 29 - Willful Indeed! Gary Grant and his crew Steve Fisk are one of a handful of sailors to complete the 61st running of the Storm Trysail Club Round Block Island Race. A record number of entrants produced a record number of DNF's unable or unwilling to find their way through a sea of holes and no air.
In addition to finishing first in the Double Handed Class and winning the Gerold Abels Trophy for best performance by a double handed boat, ALIBI was awarded the Harvey Conover Memorial Overall Trophy as the "yacht that has won her class and in the judgment of the Flag Officers and Race Committee has had the best performance overall."
Rumor has it a new mantle will be needed for all the hardware. These guys are hardy indeed. Congratulations! - Rich Gold
Thank You Steve For Ten Great Years May 23, 2006 - After ten years of service as our Club Manager, Steve Shaw has moved on to a different career path. At our Memorial Day Picnic this Monday, we will be thanking Steve for his tenure. Steve will be there with his wife Stacey. Please make plans to join us! - Rear Commodore Eric Robbins
CPYC to run the Laser US Olympic Trial Qualifier! May 17, 2006 - I am pleased to announce that CPYC has been awarded the Laser "Last Chance" Olympic Trials Qualifier in September 2007. This resulted from consultations with Dean Brenner, US Olympic Sailing Committee Chairman, and Gary Bodie, US Sailing Team High Performance Director.
Lasers will qualify for the Olympic Trials from several 2007 regattas, but by the end of the 2007 summer there will still be 12-15 spots open. Those spots will be filled at the Last Chance Qualifier, held 2-3 weeks before the October Trials in Newport. This event, while comparable in importance with a US or NA Championship, will be smaller and easier to run, with only one class and fewer competitors. With the 20 or so pre-qualified Lasers excluded from this regatta, it will enable our local sailors to compete for a spot in the Trials, last achieved in Dallas in 2003 by Marc Jacobi and Phil Hood. The specific dates and regatta format will be determined later this year.- Rear Commodore Eric (Laser) Robbins

Flash...Commodore Gold wins Rampant trophy for best performance in American Yacht Club Spring Series...May 9, 2006
Turning Point (shown right), skippered by Commodore Rich Gold, won Division 5 of the American Yacht Club Spring Series and the Rampant trophy for the best performance in the judgment of the Race Committee for PHRF boats in the Regatta. Other CPYC sailors competing were Bill Walker's Afterglow finishing 2nd in IRC Division 1B, Jay Lurie's and George Wilbank's Revelation finishing 5th in the J105 Class, Eric Passero sailing aboard Bellicosa the Swan 45 finishing second In Division IRC 1A and John McArthur's Deadicated finishing 4th in PHRF Division 5. Other Club members spotted on the lawn and on the water were Mark Jacobi, Phil Hood, Greg Van der Ahe, Alex Wilbanks, Gordon Dailey, Ed Whitney and Mike Gavin.
The conditions both weekends were not the typical. The weather and wind were more like the CPYC Summer Sundays with sunshine and light breezes. On the South Course the RC managed to get in 8 races in 4 days. The last day was the best with a pretty steady 8 knots. The RC gave us 2 substantial races leaving me with the added challenge to change and race on up to CPYC for Commissioning while my crew basked in their glory, enjoyed the AYC lawn and picked up the trophies. Later my brother and I returned Turning Point to its home at CPYC after a midnight transport.
The Turning Point team consisted of long time core crew and friends Ian Macmillan - tactician, Jim Arata - runners, Ed Whitney - mainsail trimmer, nephew Nate - tailing jib and trimming spinnaker, Allen O' Farrel -navigating and pit, Katie Finch - learning the ropes and soaking up the fun of it all, Christopher O' Farrel - mast and brother Dave - bow and inspiring spirit. We also had a Wednesday night regular, Dave Rapport and our Wednesday night rival, Mike Gavin each aboard for a day.
Soon CPYC racing will start and we look forward to a summer of sailing, sea, sun and fun. - Report submitted by Rich Gold

CPYC Juniors Bring Home the Silver from JSA Midwinter Meeting and Awards Ceremony
At the annual midwinter meeting of the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound held at the Beach Point Club on Saturday, February 11th, CPYC Juniors were well represented among those collecting trophies. To identify the treasure they (from left to right: Alex Wilbanks, Sarah Hamm, Madeline Gill, Marion Trumbull, Lindsey Chandler, and Stewart Mathis) are holding:
The perpetual Dorade Trophy first presented in 1968 by Roderick Stephens, Jr. (of Sparkman & Stephens fame -- this trophy had been missing since 1981 and was discovered this year in the AYC bar by a JSA official); the Dorade Overall Trophy (keeper); the Marlinspike Seamanship Trophy originally presented in 1964 by Emil Mosbacher, Jacob Isbrandtsen and George Hinman (those who held tight to the America's Cup for the NYYC for so long; they don't make trophies like this one anymore -- it's Tiffany sterling silver); Seamanship Trophy (keeper); Beach Point Overnight First Division B, and Dorade Trophy First Division B.
This was the first time in the 35-40 year history of these events that CPYC ever won the Dorade Overall Trophy or the Marlinspike Seamanship Trophy. To calculate the latter, they combined each club's finishes in the Dorade and the Beach Point Overnight and added in the JSA Seamanship Test and the 3 highest JSA Navigation Test scores for each club. Our top scorers who helped clinch this award were Marion Trumbull (receiving one of the seven highest scores in all JSA), Madeleine Gill and Sarah Hamm.
None of this would have been possible, however, without the tireless efforts of Ann and George Wilbanks who led the big boat program for two years. We thank the Wilbanks and promise them we will continue to build upon the excellent foundation they laid.
Please note: The Dorade Trophy, donated by Roderick Stephens Jr., a member of he America's Cup Hall of Fame, represents a half model of his beloved yawl, Dorade, winner of both the Transatlantic and Fastnet Races.

FINAL 2006 Key West Race Week Results... Nelson Stephenson and TeamBOLD Win Mumm 30 Class! Eric Passero aboard Bellicosa wins Swan 45 World Championship!
Jan 22, Key West, FL - Congratulations to TeamBOLD for winning the 2006 KWRW in the Mumm 30 class, the 2006 KWRW Division 1 Winner and the 2005 Mumm 30 North American Championship!
And Congratulations to Eric Passero, who is now a World Champion in the Swan 45 Class! Eric had a great week on Bellicosa, managing a 1 point victory in a great series. I guess we will be seeing Eric around the Club in lots of Ferragamo gear…..very cool. TeamBOLD accumulated 7 Race wins for the series our of 9 races and added two 3rd place finishes in races 7 and 8, creating a picket fence with a gate! TeamBOLD had a score line of thirteen points for the Regatta. Turbo Duck came second for the week with 26 points and Black Seal (who sailed a very good regatta) was third overall with 32 points. Groovederci, who won the day on Friday with 3 points, came 4th overall with 40 points. Groovederci also was awarded boat of the day on Friday, a great honor for the Mumm 30 Class.
CPYC Hangover Bowl 2006 Won by Matt Goetting Jan 2 - Twenty three victims of a debatable state of mind participated in this year's edition of the famed Hangover Bowl. The 'victor' was Matt Goetting who made the trek up from New Jersey to join us. Juniors Alex Weiksnar and Harry Weyher, who finished second and third for the day by a large margin over the following boats, proved that not partying the night before and not drinking (alcohol) while sailing is probably a pretty good idea after all!

Fall Frostbiting Week 10 and Season Finale: Phil Hood takes the Day while Andrew Scrivan puts together an Amazing Season Dec 12 - Andrew Scrivan is the new Fall Series champion, with a winning average of 2.036 that is the best ever in frostbite records. Marc Jacobi was a solid second. Alex Weiksnar's third place standing is the best ever for a Junior, while Phil Hood moved up to fourth ahead of Scott Furnary. The big news is that the Juniors have arrived in force. Eleven of the record 47 qualifiers (old record = 42) were under 18, with two of them winning top-five trophies. The 128 people who participated smashed last Fall's record of 107, and the average race starters of 48 blew away the old record of 43. Adam Szabo continued his amazing Ironman streak, which has now reached 198 consecutive races since May 2004. With 67 people already registered and paid for the Spring Series, more records are sure to fall.

Fall Frostbiting Week 9: NorthEasterly wind, high tide, flat water, 29 hardy souls Dec 9 - Although the race committee work was among the best of the season and all of the competitors were having a major blast, apparently the RC was freezing their butts off so badly that they called the last race at 2:30 and made a beeline for the serious pizza-fest in the Governors Room. A little bit of snow just made the day more memorable for the racers though and eight tactical races were held up in Saugatuck Harbor. Paul Craine snagged the day with Eric Robbins trumping Chris J by a point for second.

Eric Robbins Awarded Roger S. Shope Trophy by YRA of LIS Dec 9 - At the YRALIS annual awards ceremony, held at Larchmont Yacht Club on December 4, YRALIS President Jim Farrell presented Eric Robbins with the Roger H. The trophy is awarded annually to honor "Outstanding Achievement in Race Management". Cedar Point YC Commodore Rich Gold and Flag Officer Halsey Bullen also attended the ceremony.
Fall Frostbiting Week 8: Good weather and good courses make for an exciting day of racing Alex Weiksnar won the day with four bullets. There was plenty of competition on the line with 43 boats. Some notable faces were Jacobi, Meireles, Hughes, Marriner, Jackson, McGrath... The day started off with light winds (2-5 knots) and then started to build (6-10 knots)after the second race. In the first two races, starting in the middle and tacking ASAP seemed to be the plan of choicce for the ! top-5 around the weather mark. After the breeze came in a bit and the course was moved up that quickly changed. It seemed like starting middle-left and then chasing the boats to leeward out to the favored end was now the most efficient strategy. Although there was often 1-2 boats who would punch-out at the pin, they were not always able to tack and take the first shift to the weather mark. Downwind was very interesting. It was an easy place to pass 5-10 boats with the proper strategy. Sailing to the right side of the course looking downwind paid greatly. There was a stronger breeze and much larger waves over there. Another advantage was avoiding the large packs of boats. It seemed like alot of people would get stuck in a large group of boats for a good portion of the downwind. Tom Lawton, who was helping out on RC with Amnon, got some great pictures which are up in our gallery thanks to our newest photo poster Sarah Hatsell. - Alex Weiksnar Results
Harry Weyher and Elizabeth Barry Compete for Cressy Trophy Nov 30 - Thirty-four young sailors competed for the Cressy Trophy, which is the Inter-Scholastic Sailing Association's National High School Singlehanded Championship. Fall Frostbiting Week 7: 47 boats, 7 races, and great courses too. Scrivan has deja vu Nov 21 - Sunday revealed 54 degree temps and 9-14 kts of breeze, and just incase you were not completely satisfied, surfing and plaining conditions. Although we only had a “meager” 47 boats on the line, plenty of competition was to be found with our Junior contingency of Weiksnar, Furnary, and Barry (returning from RC duty last week), along with Jacobi, Johanessen, Duke, Himler and the British force Peter Stratton applying pressure in every race. Another beautiful day for Laser Frostbiting with 53 Competitors and perfect conditions Sun Nov 13 - The weather Gods blessed us again with 60+ degrees, 11-16 kts, and long surfs down wind leaving all 53 racers grinning ear to ear. Ted Himler Takes the 57 Competitors in the CPYC Fall Laser Regatta and Week 5 Series to School Sat Nov 5 - Taking a little time off from his Saturday academic schedule at Hotchkiss, Teddy Himler came down to Southern CT to hand out a few lessons. Saturday revealed 70+ degree temps and 3-11kts of breeze for the 57 competitors. The racing was very exciting with the race committee trying to tame us all with the Zed Flag and the Round-the-End rule in effect for the first start.
In speaking with Ted after racing, I found that his consistent results lay in great part to where he started on the line. Although he thought an end might be favored for the start of a particular race, he opted not to try to win the end but simply start closer to it. This allowed him to take advantage of the often unpredictable shifts on the first beats. By not committing too far towards an end he was able to either tack away on a favorable shift or extend on his current tack and leverage the fleet even more.
This week we were also visited by several Massachusetts and Rhode Island contingents that made the racing and after party all that much more enjoyable. Many thanks to Andy Hoffman and all the others who organized the food, drinks and awards. - Andrew Scrivan

CPYC Laser Frostbiting - Big Fleet kicks off 2005-2006 Season Oct 10 - The 2005 Fall series got off to a great start when 48 boats showed up for the first day of racing. You could feel the excitement in the air as everyone registered, rigged and got ready to battle it out in the water. On the weather side of things, we had a cold front go thru the night before, finally chasing away those awful warm summer temps, replacing them with a more moderate 60 degrees. read more...

Jacobi and Wilbanks 4th at Ideal 18 North Americans Sept 20 - Skipper Marc Jacobi and crew Alex Wilbanks, sailing Wilbanks’ Junkyard Dog, were 4th at the Ideal 18 North Americans held Sept. 17-18 at Stamford YC (20 boats). Their mojo fluctuated with finishes of 4-6-9-2-3-9-1-8-1, but ended strong. Shane Olney was first, Skip Shumway 2nd and Donna Faust 3rd. The 2004 NA Champion and class builder, Shumway had to settle for 2nd this year, but Olney won sailing Shumway’s old boat, Kaydo. The top 3 were part of a 7 boat contingent making the long drive down from “Ideal Capital of America,” Rochester YC. With crazy fall schedules, Jacobi and Wilbanks first got in the boat together Saturday. Atypical fall conditions, with light, trying winds, where seemingly random corner banging often paid off, led the regatta to be re-named the “Less than Ideal NA’s.”
CPYC's Div 1 Stars Shine at IHYC/RYC Greenwich Cup Sept 19 - Bill Walker's Afterglow and Rich Gold's Turning Point both did Cedar Point proud at the Greenwich Cup. Both raced in different PHRF divisions. In the Big Boat PHRF division (blue fleet), Bill Walker was the chaser rather than the chased, competing against boats significantly faster and ending the 3 day regatta second. In the smaller PHRF boat division (red fleet), Turning Point was scratch boat controlling a slower boat spread of 60 seconds from ahead in all but one race that was held in 2 - 3 knots with a 60 degree shift half way up the first beat ending the regatta first in division. Over 600 racers participated in venues at four yacht clubs, CPYC, Stamford, Riverside and American. All YRALIS and regatta officials expressed great pleasure and thanks to me for CPYC's support and involvement on this event. The YRALIS hopes to build on the regatta's success and it becomes a regatta to look forward to as the years roll on. The classes that raced at CPYC were Laser (18 boats), Flying Scot (16 boats), Atlantic (8 boats), Lightning (5 boats) and Laser Radial (5 boats). Stamford YC had 8 IRC boats. Riverside YC had 8 boats in Division 1 PHRF, 6 boats in Division 4 PHRF, 7 boats in Division 5 PHRF and 5 boats in Division 6 PHRF navigator. Riverside also hosted Soverel 33 with 8 boats and J/105 with 10 boats. American hosted Etchells (14), IOD (5), S-boat (7), Shields (5). CPYC Hosts Optimist Green Fleet Regatta Aug 5 - On Wednesday (Aug 3), under beautiful blue skies and perfect wind, CPYC hosted its annual Green Fleet Optimist regatta for beginning sailors ages 8 to 10 years old. For most of the competitors, this was their very first regatta -- but judging from the smiles on their faces, this will definitely not be their last. A total of 35 competitors from Cedar Point Yacht Club, Pequot YC, Milford YC, Shore & Country Club, and Darien Junior Sailing Team sailed a total of 6 races - 2 boys/girls only, and 4 combined. Each competitor received a "1st-place" participation award.
Sailing from CPYC were Lindsay Doyle, Corrinna Gavin, Rieke Gavin, Isabelle Gordon, Richie Gordon, Ellyse Hamlin, Rachel Myers, Liam O'Leary, Harrison Paige, Isabelle Pieper, Matt Raymond, Deanna Schreiber, Megan Shepard, Forrest Thomas, Lars Van Breems, and Spencer Warner. CPYC Hosted Connecticut Special Olympics Regatta July 30th July 31 - Yesterday 14 Special Olympic Athletes competed at Cedar Point as part of the CT Kiwanis Club Special Olympic Regatta which CPYC jointly hosted with Norwalk YC. The athletes, who crewed in Vanguard 15s, competed in five races held in a fairly light but steady southerly breeze. Many thanks to the members and volunteers who loaned boats and skippered in the racing and to the volunteers that pitched in to organize and run the event. If you'd like to get involved in the future, talk with Jay Lurie who put together Cedar Points portion of yesterday's event. Cedar Point Laser 420 Junior Sailing Raceweek Held July 27 & 28 July 29 - 195 boats, 290 junior sailors (the most ever to compete at CPYC in a single regatta), 29 different yacht clubs, and interesting weather marked this year's CPYC's Laser-Club420 Junior Raceweek. On day one, with little breeze, sailors and race committee had a 10AM harbor start but had to wait until 2PM for the southerly sea breeze to fill in. When it did, 74 Club 420s and 32 full-rig Lasers enjoyed 10 knot breeze on the far race course run by Nelson Stephenson as did the 89 Laser radials on the course run by Storm Snaith. At 4PM, with beautiful wind and calm skies, however, the call was made from CPYC to send in the racers due to omnious cells on the radar - the correct call because shortly after everyone returned to base, a wicked thunderstorm with winds over 50 ripped through the area. The next day the sailors awoke to a nice northernly and got in 4 great races. Special thanks to PROs Nelson and Storm, Regatta Chair Lisa Kammert, and Housing Chair Daphne Lewis. - Paul Myerson

Cedar Point Optimist Area B & C Open Regatta Held July 23 July 26 - In what has become an annual ritual, CPYC hosted the JSA Area B&C Optimist Open on July 23rd. 123 sailors ages 9 to 14 from 17 different Westchester and Fairfield County Clubs braved the gusty conditions where winds reached 25 knots. Good breeze in any boat – but imagine 25 k in a boat that is only 7’-7” long and 77 pounds! Many sailors crashed and burned. Of the 81-boat red & blue fleet, only 35 finished all four races. Of the 42-boat “white” fleet (ages 9-10), the sailors who finished all four races numbered only five! The vast fleet of support boats had their hands full bailing out boats and encouraging kids who ranged from the disappointed to the fearful. But misery loves company; and all seemed in good spirits upon learning that even the very skilled had difficulty in these rough conditions. Special thanks to Regatta Chair Jeff Blauvelt, PRO Harrison Gill, and Registrar and Scorekeeper Laura Trumbull.

CPYC Junior Sailors Win JSA/Sears Cup Eliminations July 13 - The CPYC team of Alex Wilbanks, Madeline Gill, and Sarah Hamm overcame adversity to win the JYRA Elimination Series for the Sears Cup. Confronted with a Judge's protest alleging they didn't have enough bottom paint on their boat(!), 15 minutes before harbor-start on the second day, they rectified the problem under close scrutiny ("You missed a spot") and arrived late to the start line, fired-up enough to take bullets in the first two races of the day. They went on to win the series on a tiebreaker in a 19-boat fleet. Our Junior team now moves on to the Area B Championship at Orient YC July 26-28. - Eric Robbins results

Storm, Revelation, Smiles Win Cedar Point Championship Regatta July 11 - The Cedar Point Championship Regatta was sailed in challenging NW breezes this weekend. In the J-109s, Lyall's Storm won with three bullets, but not without being tested by Minella's Relentless and Gold/Carp's Sundari. The J-105s had the largest fleet with 10. Revelation, sailed by Jay Lurie and George Wilbanks, led Saturday with a 1-2-2 score and wound up the regatta Sunday with a decisive win in the last race to beat out Damien Emery's Eclipse for a one-point victory. In the J-30s, Carl Sherter's Fat City won the first heat, but then John McArthur in Smiles ran off four firsts to easily capture their District Championship. Fat City held on to edge Eric Robbins and Halsey Bullen in Laser Beam by one point for second. - Eric Robbins results
