CPYC Wins Us Sailing's One-Design Club Award 
CPYC has been named recipient of US Sailing’s 2018 National One-Design Club Award. The award ceremony will be held Jan 31 in conjunction with the 2019 National Sailing Programs Symposium in Jacksonville, FL. This is truly a testament to all of CPYC's outstanding volunteers!

Fall Regatta Wrap 
In Thistles, Steve Gruver won Oyster Roast in Annapolis and took 2nd for skipper AND crew for Thistle Fall Series; nobody ever qualified for both before. In Lightnings, Ched Proctor won King’s Day Regatta in Jacksonville and took 4th at Frigid Digit in Annapolis. Click READ MORE for more CPYC member results (PhotoBoat photo above).

Black Duck to Stay Open 
Oooh, close one! After announcing their closure earlier in the week, the Black Duck was able to secure additional financing and will remain open for the foreseeable future (hopefully another 40 years). Click READ MORE.

End of an Era 
After 40 years, the Black Duck is closing its doors on 11/4. Without a place to go after post-race activities, you may want to put your order in for a liquor locker, while there's still some available.

Ben Craine Wins Bell Trophy 
CPYC’s Ben Craine was awarded the Clinton M. Bell trophy at the JSA LIS Annual Meeting for highest performance among all junior sailors. Ben is the first winner of the trophy to have won all four qualifying regattas since first awarded in 1950 with victories at Districts, Larchmont Jr RW, JSA RW, and JSA Singlehanded Champs. Great job Ben!

Star Bedford Pitcher 
The world's oldest active Star fleet hosted the Bedford Pitcher, 9/8 - 9. 2 CPYC boats finished in the top 5, including Bill Watson / Roger Sharp in 3rd and Carroll McCallum / Jock Kohlhas in 4th. Click READ MORE for full results.

Canal Road Closure 
Canal Road will be closed for at least the next 2 months as culverts under the road are repaired. Thanks to Jeff Manchester for the heads up and for getting Public Works to update the bridge signs (click READ MORE for photos). Unfortunately, this was a bit late for John McArthur who got some practice backing up with a J70 (sorry John!).

Jacobi Wins Aero 9 Worlds 
Another dominating performance by Marc Jacobi, as he wins the RS Aero 9 Worlds in Weymouth, UK for the 2nd year in a row! Marc started the regatta with 8 bullets and had a 2nd as one of his throw outs. Madhavan Thirumalai also had an outstanding series, taking 7th overall in the 43 boat fleet.
